Kuari Pass Trek, also known as the Curzon Trail, is one of the most scenic and rewarding treks in the Indian Himalayas. Named after Lord Curzon, the British Viceroy of India who attempted this trek in 1905, this trail offers spectacular panoramic views of some of the highest peaks in the Garhwal Himalayas including Nanda Devi, Dronagiri, Kamet, Chaukhamba, and Trishul.

The trek takes you through dense oak and rhododendron forests, vast meadows, charming Himalayan villages, and offers breathtaking views at every turn. The highlight of the trek is reaching Kuari Pass at 12,516 feet, where you are rewarded with a 360-degree view of the majestic Himalayan ranges. DAY 1 - RISHIKESH TO JOSHIMATH

Begin your journey from Rishikesh, the yoga capital of the world. Drive through the scenic Garhwal region, passing through Devprayag (confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers), Rudraprayag, and Karnaprayag. The drive takes approximately 8-10 hours covering 250 km through winding mountain roads. Witness the beautiful Alaknanda River flowing alongside the road. Pass through several small towns and villages, experiencing the local Garhwali culture. Reach Joshimath by evening, a significant pilgrimage town and gateway to several Himalayan treks. Check into your hotel, rest, and acclimatize. Attend a briefing session about the trek. Overnight stay in Joshimath.

DAY 2 - JOSHIMATH TO GULLING VIA DHAK

After breakfast, drive from Joshimath to Dhak village (approximately 2 hours). Dhak is a beautiful village at 7,900 feet, the starting point of the Kuari Pass trek. Begin your trek from Dhak to Gulling campsite. The trek is approximately 5-6 km and takes 4-5 hours. Walk through dense oak and rhododendron forests, cross mountain streams, and gradually ascend through beautiful trails. The path offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys and peaks. Reach Gulling campsite (9,350 feet) by afternoon. Set up camps in the meadows surrounded by forests. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and mountain views. Evening tea and snacks followed by dinner. Overnight camping at Gulling.

DAY 3 - GULLING TO KHULLARA

Wake up to a beautiful sunrise and enjoy hot breakfast. Trek from Gulling to Khullara campsite. The trek is approximately 10 km and takes 6-7 hours. Walk through dense forests of oak, rhododendron, and maple trees. The trail gradually opens up to reveal stunning views of Nanda Devi, Dronagiri, and other peaks. Pass through beautiful meadows and clearings. Reach Khullara campsite (11,680 feet) by afternoon. Khullara is a vast meadow offering spectacular 180-degree views of the Himalayan ranges. Set up camps with magnificent mountain views all around. Explore the area and witness the sunset over the peaks. Overnight camping at Khullara with stunning starlit skies.

DAY 4 - KHULLARA TO KUARI PASS

Summit Day! Wake up early and have breakfast. Trek from Khullara to Kuari Pass (12,516 feet). The trek is approximately 4 km and takes 3-4 hours. The trail is steep but well-defined. As you ascend, the views become more spectacular with every step. Reach Kuari Pass and witness the breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of the Himalayan giants - Nanda Devi (7,816m), Dronagiri (7,066m), Kamet (7,756m), Chaukhamba (7,138m), Trishul (7,120m), Neelkanth, Hathi Parvat, Ghori Parvat, and many more peaks. Spend time at the pass, take photographs, and soak in the magnificent views. After spending quality time at the summit, descend back to Khullara. Overnight camping at Khullara.

DAY 5 - KHULLARA PASS - DHAK VILLAGE - JOSHIMATH

After breakfast, begin your descent from Khullara. Trek down through the same beautiful trails, forests, and meadows. The descent takes approximately 6-7 hours to reach Dhak village. Enjoy the last views of the mountains and forests. Reach Dhak village by afternoon. Board the vehicle and drive back to Joshimath. The drive takes approximately 2 hours. Reach Joshimath by evening. Check into your hotel, freshen up, and relax. Celebrate the successful completion of the Kuari Pass trek with your team. Overnight stay in Joshimath.

DAY 6 - JOSHIMATH TO RISHIKESH

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and begin your journey back to Rishikesh. The drive takes approximately 8-10 hours through the scenic mountain roads. Stop at various viewpoints and take photographs. Enjoy the last glimpses of the Garhwal Himalayas. Reach Rishikesh by evening. Trip ends with wonderful memories of the Kuari Pass trek - the stunning summit views, beautiful campsites, dense forests, vast meadows, and the majestic Himalayan peaks.
